Burnout affects many people around the globe, causing tremendous loss to quality of life, relationships and the economy. Unfortunately, there is a tendency, particularly among businesses, to shy away from the issue. Too often it is seen as something which cannot be changed or helped. However, burnout is treatable, and treatment would benefit all involved. Psychotherapy should usually be considered the first line of treatment. Medication may, however, in some cases become necessary as an additional support and to help the psychotherapeutic process.
