Jonathan has worked in psychotherapy and counselling since 2002. He has authored several books and nearly 200 articles on psychiatry, psychotherapy and communication. He has studied psychotherapy and counselling since 2002 and has over six years of specialist training in general psychiatry and two years in forensic psychiatry.
He graduated from medical school in 2002. After completing his doctoral thesis on a molecular biology topic, he began training in psychiatry and psychotherapy in Switzerland. He worked until 2021 as a medical doctor, when he ended his practice of medicine to focus fully on psychotherapyand counselling. He was a member of the American Psychiatric Association and was enrolled in the professional competence scheme of the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland during his medical work. Jonathan participated in continuing education programs at the Psychiatry Academy of the Massachusetts General Hospital, the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, the American Psychiatric Association and Harvard Medical School. Jonathan chaired a peer review group on advanced psychotherapy strategies, registered with the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland.
Jonathan completed his theoretical studies in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the University of Zurich in the advanced studies in psychotherapy program (500 hours) while deepening his psychotherapeutic tool-set through seminars and continuing education in CBT, systemic psychotherapy and group therapy. He has also completed a 250-hour training analysis and worked with various supervisors. Jonathan also holds diplomas in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), counselling psychology, traumatology, and psychopharmacology, all with distinction. He began working as a medical doctor and psychotherapist in 2002 and has worked in different settings, including a crisis intervention centre, psychiatric hospitals, an outpatient clinic for integrative psychotherapy and in private practice. He has worked with individuals and groups and conducts sessions also online.
Jonathan has been very interested in the interface between healthcare, law, and economics and the immense benefit to society from better access to psychotherapy. He holds diplomas in law and legal practice, a master’s degree in international law from the College of Law of England and Wales, and a master’s degree in management from Harvard University. His BA in economics is from Dartmouth College, a member of the Ivy League in New Hampshire, USA. He has worked for four years as a medical specialist focusing on psychiatry at a public disability insurance agency. Currently he is working towards a MicroMasters in Finance at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has a special interest inbtime-series forecasting. Jonathan also holds certificates in computer security from Stanford University.
