Suggest a Topic or Question

This page is for you to put forward a mental health topic, question or theme for the website and our moderated Mental Health Community. We are looking for general suggestions only; please do not treat this as a place for private psychotherapy, medical advice, diagnosis or crisis care. As a public page, all comments will be reviewed before they are posted.

Here are a few ways to make the most of this page:

Put in a general question on something like stress, OCD, grief, therapy or communication. Offer an idea for a future piece – perhaps a subject that would be well served by a plain-language explanation or a guide on what to do next. Or if you have come across a page that left you with an unanswered question, let us know which one and what it was.

What we consider a good suggestion is one broad enough to be of use to more than a single reader. Think along the lines of how to handle uncertainty, anxiety in the workplace, or broaching the subject of therapy with your family. Do not get into private clinical details or mention names and other identifying information about people. And should safety be an issue, turn to emergency or crisis support rather than this page.

Some examples of the kind of thing we are after: “I would like to understand the difference between normal worry and anxiety,” or “An article on grief and sleep would be useful.” You might ask if the community could have a discussion on preparing for that first therapy session, or write in about how to talk to someone when a relationship has hit a wall.

This page cannot handle requests for a diagnosis or medication instructions, nor should you post documents or screenshots of a private nature. If you have an urgent risk or immediate danger, contact local emergency services at once. For anything requiring a direct line to psychotherapy or counselling, make an appointment. If you need help now and not a public forum, head over to Find Help for Mental Health. For any private matters, the contact page is the way to go.

Three helpful ways to use this page

Ask a general question
For example, a question about anxiety, relationships, stress, therapy, grief, OCD, or communication.
Suggest a future article
Share a topic that would benefit from a plain-language explanation or a practical next-step guide.
Tell me what a page missed
If a page left a general question unanswered, mention the page and the question below.

Please keep comments general and suitable for a public page. For private enquiries, use the contact page. For urgent risk or immediate safety concerns, use emergency or crisis support rather than this page.

What makes a helpful suggestion?

The most useful suggestions are broad enough to help more than one reader. You might suggest a topic such as anxiety at work, grief after a relationship ends, how to talk about therapy with family, or how to manage uncertainty.

  • Keep it general rather than sharing private clinical details.
  • Avoid names, identifying information, or details about another person.
  • Use urgent or crisis services instead of this page if safety is at risk.

What kinds of suggestions help?

  • A general question about anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, grief, relationships, communication, stress, therapy, or counselling.
  • A topic that feels confusing and could use a plain-language explanation.
  • A film, book, story, or everyday situation that raises a mental health question.
  • A practical theme for a future article, such as how to prepare for a first session or how to talk about symptoms.

Please avoid posting

  • Names, addresses, private contact details, or information that identifies another person.
  • Urgent risk or crisis details. If there is immediate danger, contact local emergency services now.
  • Requests for diagnosis, medication instructions, or individual treatment decisions.
  • Documents, screenshots, images, or other private records.

If you need help now rather than a public discussion topic, please use Find Help for Mental Health. If you want to explore psychotherapy or counselling directly, you can make an appointment.

Example starting points

  • I would like to understand the difference between normal worry and anxiety.
  • Could you write about how to talk to someone when a relationship feels stuck?
  • I would find an article on grief and sleep useful.
  • Could the community discuss what helps people prepare for a first therapy session?
