Effective communication can have a positive impact on a client’s struggle. Psychotherapy has been found to be an effective remedy for many mental health conditions, but it’s important for therapists to be aware of ways how to communicate the salience of their approach to their clients. A new idea is to rate and measure the persuasiveness of psychotherapists. Researchers aim to develop a rating scale that evaluates the persuasiveness of psychotherapists and how it might affect the working relationship between therapist and client. The initial study has suggested that the developed scale seems to be a reliable measure of persuasive ability, and while a significant relationship was not initially found, it was discovered that persuasiveness explained a significant portion of the working relationship. This new measure can help in advancing the research on psychotherapist persuasiveness.
