His practice focus is on psychotherapy and psychiatric medication, about which he has written a number of articles and books. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and enrolled in the professional competence scheme of the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland. He keeps up to date through the continuing education programs of the Psychiatry Academy of the Massachusetts General Hospital, the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, the American Psychiatric Association and Harvard Medical School. Jonathan graduated from medical school in 2002. After completing his doctoral thesis in molecular biology he began his training in psychiatry and psychotherapy in Switzerland. Jonathan completed his theoretical studies in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the University of Zurich in the advanced studies in psychotherapy program (500 hours), while deepening his psychotherapeutic tool-set through seminars and continuing education in CBT, systemic psychotherapy and group therapy.  He has also completed a 250 hour training analysis and worked with various supervisors in Europe. Jonathan began working as a psychotherapist in 2002 and has since worked in different settings, including a crisis intervention centre, psychiatric hospitals, an outpatient clinic for integrative psychotherapy and in private practice. He has worked with individuals, groups and even conducted sessions online.

Jonathan has been very interested in the interface between healthcare and law and economics, as he believes that society as a whole can benefit immensely from better access to psychotherapy. He holds diplomas in law and legal practice and a master in international law from the College of Law of England and Wales and a master in management from Harvard University. He has worked for four years as a medical specialist with a focus on psychiatry at a public disability insurance agency.
