I offer psychotherapy and counselling in English and German by video where this is clinically, practically and professionally suitable. The first focus of this page is German speakers living in Ireland, including people in Dublin and elsewhere in the country who would feel more comfortable speaking about personal matters in German.
Sources checked May 2026. This page is educational and service-orienting. It does not diagnose, replace an individual clinical assessment, or provide crisis care. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a recognised crisis service. Medication decisions need to be discussed with a qualified prescriber.
For German speakers in Ireland
Living in another language can be enriching, but it can also make therapy harder to begin. Even when someone speaks English very well, it may feel different to talk about anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, relationship conflict, trauma, identity, work stress or family history in the language in which those experiences were first formed.
Online therapy can be useful for German speakers in Ireland who are not near Dublin, who travel frequently, who have work or childcare constraints, or who simply prefer to start from a private room at home. In-person appointments in central Dublin may also be practical for many people because the practice is on Dame Street, Dublin 2, right on the edge of Temple Bar and close to central transport routes.
Dublin, Temple Bar, Terenure and Tallaght
For in-person sessions, the location is central rather than a suburb-specific clinic. Temple Bar is immediately nearby, and people coming from Terenure, Tallaght, Rathmines, Rathgar, Ranelagh, the south city, the north city or the wider Dublin area can often reach the city centre by public transport, Luas, bus, cycling or car. These place names are mentioned for orientation only; they are not separate local-service pages.
Online therapy within Ireland, the UK and the EU
Online work can sometimes be suitable for German-speaking expatriates in Ireland, the UK or another EU country. Before beginning, it is important to consider the person’s location, privacy, technology, local emergency options, local professional rules, and whether the work can be offered safely and responsibly across borders. If urgent or specialist local care is needed, a local GP, emergency department, crisis service or specialist service may be more appropriate.
When German-language online therapy may fit
- You live in Ireland and would prefer therapy in German.
- You live outside Dublin and video sessions are more realistic than regular travel.
- You are in Dublin but prefer a mix of online and central Dublin appointments where suitable.
- You are a German-speaking expat and want to discuss culture, migration, identity, relationship or work issues in a language that feels more personal.
- You can meet from a private, safe space with a stable internet connection.
When another route may be better
- There is immediate danger or a mental health emergency.
- You do not have a private place for sessions.
- You need a local multidisciplinary team, inpatient care, safeguarding support, addiction detox, emergency assessment or specialist service.
- Local law, professional rules or emergency-support arrangements make cross-border online work unsuitable.
- A medication question is central and needs to be discussed with a qualified prescriber who can consider your full situation.
